Cup Win Delights Harford

Talking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Harford explained his disappointment at the first half performance but revelled at getting through. “We said to the players we need to be in the hat, I thought we played very well in the second half so delighted to be in the hat. I thought we looked a bit lazy and hesitant and we never got out of the blocks and didn’t start properly and I think the goal at the death typified our performance in the first half. To be fair to Port Vale they caused us a few problems in the first half so we had a chat at half time and I think the players came out and responded magnificently and it was a great second half typified with two great goals.

The Millers chief, who made several changes to the line up, was pleased with the incoming players and in particular Jon Otsemobor. “It gives me a headache now which is very good, it’s obviously ‘Semy’s’ first game of the season and I thought he did well in the second half and will obviously catch the eye with his pace and forward runs but I was delighted with everyone and wouldn’t single anyone out tonight.”

Having reached the second round Harford set his sights on a big team next up. “This is my first game under lights at Millmoor as a manager and I think we could get a good atmosphere down here, with a big club we could get this place full and rocking, it would be nice.”
