Warneymonial tickets on sale!

Last updated : 30 April 2013 By Bigrich.....

Following on from the events of Saturday 27th April when, as a result of their victory over Aldershot Town FC, Rotherham United secured promotion to Npower Division 1 discussions have taken place with the Club Chairman Tony Stewart and Manager Steve Evans to consider the possibility of now arranging Paul Warne’s Testimonial game as soon as possible.

The game had originally been scheduled for Tuesday 30th April but with the uncertainty surrounding the possibility of the Club being involved in the play-offs it was decided that this date could not be guaranteed and as such the game was postponed.

As the Club has now achieved its’ main aim of promotion, everybody was keen to see if the game could be re-scheduled at an early time. The necessary discussions have now taken place and all the parties involved are delighted to announce that the game has now been arranged for Sunday 5th May 2013 with a kick-off time of 2.00 at the New York Stadium.

The game will now be between the current first team squad and the Millers’ legends that Paul had previously contacted and who had all readily agreed to be involved in his Testimonial. This will be an opportunity to not only see some of the famous players from the past who played alongside Warney but also to have a real celebration of the Club’s achievement in gaining promotion in their first season in their magnificent new stadium.

Paul would like everybody to come and enjoy a special day of celebration with as many as possible wearing old Rotherham United shirts from years gone by. (Whisper it but we could also celebrate Paul’s 40th birthday which is just three days later on 8th May).

Tickets are now on sale from the Club, with effect from Tuesday 30th April, priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and with children under eight free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can also be purchased on line by going to www.themillers.co.uk

The club are urging fans to pre-purchase thier tickets to avoid queues on the day.

Sponsorship packages are also available for the 1925 Club hospitality area with admission and a three course meal on offer at just £40 (or £220 for a table of four which includes sponsorship of one of the legends shirts). Contact Mark Hitchens on 01709-827771 or Matt Twigg on 07716-885-809 for full details (email pw.testimonial@gmail.com). The dress code in the sponsorship area will be informal.

Come and enjoy a real celebration of Paul’s ten years plus with the Club and also the magnificent achievement of the current squad in securing promotion.
