Pukka Goodie bag - The Winner

Last updated : 03 January 2009 By Bigrich.....
For december we had a Pukka PIe's goody bag up for grabs, consisting of a Leather Football, Giant Mug, Polo Shirt, Baseball Cap and an Apron.

December's question was:
A defending player holds back an opponent by firmly grabbing hold of his long hair to stop his progress down the wing. After stopping play, does the referee:
A - Caution the defender, yellow card, and restart play with a direct freekick
B - Caution the defender, yellow card, and restart play with an indirect freekick
C - Send off the defender, red card, and restart play with a direct freekick
D - Send off the defender, red card, and restart play with an indirect freekick

Answer for December is C - Send off the defender, red card, and restart play with a direct free kick.

Reason - The defender would be given a yellow card if, for example, he had held the defender back by the shirt. This holding offence, by the hair, is more serious. It is 'serious foul play', a red card. 'Holding an opponent' is one of the ten offences for which a direct free kick is awarded.

Just 7 of you got it right and A1Power pulled number 6 out of the bag, which was Jeremy Hicks, so well done to you.. We'll be in contact over the weekend to sort delivery of your prize..

Watch out for a new competition coming later today.
