Murdock signs for Shrews

Murdock was the first player released by Mark Robins, after spending almost all the season out of action with various injuries.

Brought in by Mick Harford and given the club captaincy, Murdock's Millmoor career stuttered into life as international call ups, the sad death of his father and injury preventing him getting in a run in the side. Ironically, it was only after Harford's departure that an injury free Murdock got a regular first team place and his solid performances helped the Millers to avoid relegation by the narrowest of margins.

32 and with a series of injuries limiting him to only a handful of first team appearances, it was no surprise that Murdock was not offered a new contract. Offered the chance to train with Shrewsbury by Gary Peters, Murdock impressed enough in their pre-season games to win a one year deal. He joins a squad which includes, Dave Hibbert, who had a largely undistinguished loan spell with Millers early last year.
