Holmes seals contract with Saints

Holmes, who's Millers contract was cancelled by mutual consent two weeks ago, played and scored in Saint's 2-1 friendly win over Ayr United last Saturday and returns to his native Scotland to be closer to his family.

Manager Derek McInnes told Saints' offical site: "All our strikers bring different qualities to the team whether it's pace or movement or natural finishing and Derek will give us something which is just a wee variation on that."

The 29 year-old netted 11 goals in 40 games with Rotherham last season, finishing joint leading scorer.
