As RUSCT's Education programme celebrates its first birthday, the scheme is to expand.

The Millers highly successful apprenticeship programme has just celebrated its first birthday, in our first full year we have signed up over 40 young people, who were categorised as ‘Not in Education, Employment or Training’ (NEET).

Education Officer Mark Wilkinson said: “the Education programme has gone from strength to strength as we have added more qualifications and training opportunities for young people who want to take that important first step in working towards a career in the sport and leisure industry.”

The Community Sports Trust has been able to progress 100% of participants towards a coaching apprenticeship, further education or full-time employment. These young people have earned nationally recognised qualifications and learned skills that they can use throughout their working life.

Coinciding with this anniversary is our expanded 2012 programme and opening of our new education facility at the Unity Centre, Saint Leonard's Road. Mark Wilkinson added: “The ‘GOALZ 2’ (Gateway of Education Learning Zone) suite at the Unity Centre doubles our capacity to deliver and is ideally located in the town centre.”

Recruitment starts now for the ‘RUFC Foundation Learning’ programme for young people aged 16-18 yrs who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) and have an interest in working in the Sports and Leisure industry. The programme offers ‘earn whilst you learn’ and participants will achieve ICT, Employability and Personal Development and a Certificate in Sport.
