Two Review - August 19th

Last updated : 19 August 2009 By Deano
To Tuesday nights action first up, as Dagenham & Redbridge stormed to a thumping 5-0 win over Shrewsbury Town at Victoria Road. The game was done and dusted by half time as Benson netted a hattrick with goals in the 20th, 26th and 39th minutes, with Griffiths making his mark in the 37th. Benson went on to complete a fine evening with his 4th goal in the 70th minute.

AFC Bournemouth maintained their 100% start to their League campaign with a 1-0 win over Aldershot Town at Dean Court. Pearce scored the only goal of the game 3 minutes after half time.

Cheltenham Town left it late to claim the points at Spotland against Rochdale. Alsop netted the winner in the 90th minute.

Crewe Alexandra left it late against Darlington at The Arena to claim three points, and to maintain their 100% on the road. Zola scored the only goal of the game in the 87th minute..

The game at The Pirelli Stadium was a rematch of a Conference game last season, but it was Torquay United who came out on top against Burton Albion. Rendell in the 26th minute and Benyon in the 37th minute, wrapped up the points for the visitors.

They may have been one of the favourites to get promoted this season, but Bradford City are hardly living up to that billing at the moment! Lincoln City walked away with the points at Valley Parade as Howe (6nd min pen) and Fagan a minute later made sure that the points were heading towards Sincil Bank!

It's going to be a long old season for Grimsby Town, without the comfort of three sides starting on a points deficit. Three games in, three game lost! Their latest defeat came against Rotherham United at Blundell Park. Le Fondre scored his first for the Millers from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute, Sweeney did level in the 64th, only to see Cummins score what proved to be the winner in the 67th minute.

Bury seem to have found their feet after their opening day defeat. Their 2nd win on the road came at the expense of Hereford United at Edgar Street. Jones got the visitors off the mark in the 10th minute, with Constantine levelling 5 minutes later. A Lowe brace in the 53rd and 86th minutes made sure that the points were heading north.

Northampton Town emphatically won their first game of the season, with a 3-0 win over Accrington Stanley at Livingstone Road. Guinan got the Cobblers off the mark in the 3rd minute, with Akinfenwa doubling the advantage from the penalty spot in the 18th minute. McKay made sure that the points were heading back fown the M6/M1 with a 78th minute strike.

Barnet notched their first win of the season with a 2-0 success at Underhill against Morecambe. Veteran Furlong got the Bees off the mark in the 3rd minute, with Jarrett making sure of the points with an 83rd minute penalty.

Macclesfield notched their first win of the new season with a local (ish) derby win over Port Vale at Moss Rose. Tipton gave the Silkmen the lead in the 6th minute, with Bencherif making sure of the points in the 68th minute.

Finally, Notts County missed out on the chance to go top tonight, as they went down to two Jamie Lowry penalties at Chesterfield, who climb to 10th spot. Mike Edwards replied for County as it finished 2-1.
