Nottingham Forest extended their lead at the top of League One to 3 points with a convincing 4-0 thumping of Chesterfield at the City Ground. Forest had to wait until the 34 minute to take the lead though, when Lester fired home. This was added to by Harris on the stroke of half time. Just after the break (48 mins), Holt converted a penalty to make it 3-0, while Southall had to wait another 20 minutes to make it 4-0. Nottingham Forest 1st, Chesterfield 15th.

Tranmere Rovers climbed up in to 2nd with a convincing win of their own. They thumped Leyton Orient 3-0 at Prenton Park. The first goal was perhaps a tad fortunate. The Rovers keeper (Ward on 8 mins) had come out to take a free kick, the wind got hold of the ball. One bounce later, 1-0! Greenacre made it 2-0 just 3 minutes later. The points were wrapped up with 11 minutes to go when Greenacre scored his second. Tranmere Rovers 2nd, Leyton Orient 19th.

Port Vale have well and truely slipped having now lost 2 on the bounce! This time they slipped up to manager less Doncaster Rovers at Vale Park. Everything seemed to going smoothly when Whitaker score for the home side just before half time. But it was Donny who had the last laugh when Heffernan not only levelled, but scored the winner in the 87th and 90th minutes respectively! Port Vale 3rd, Doncaster Rovers 13th.

Brentford maintained their undefeated start to the campaign with a fine 2-1 home win over Bradford City at Griffin Park. Bower had put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute. It was looking good for an away win until O'Connor levelled in the 73rd minute. Then Kuffour made sure of the points for the SW London side with a strike in the 80th minute. Brentford 4th, Bradford City 6th.

Carlisle United are making Brunton Park a difficult destination for visiting sides this season - maintaining a 100% start against Cheltenham Town in their Sunday kick off! Gall (26 mins) and Hawley (44 mins) made sure that the points were staying up north. Carlisle United 5th, Cheltenham Town 9th.

Yeovil Town and Swansea City battled to a 1-1 draw in their Friday night encounter in south Wales! Stewart put the Somerset side ahead in the 52nd minute, with Trundle levelling 11 minutes later from the penalty spot. Yeovil did win the yellow card count with a 5-2 victory! Swansea City 11th, Yeovil Town 7th.

What a week for Bristol City! Last Sunday, they were 23rd and seemingly struggling! Then on Tuesday a nice little 3-1 away win and a headbutting between mates, rounded off at the end of the week with convictions for public order offences! Oh I forget, and a 1-0 home win over Brighton (no one sent off)! The winner was scored by Brown in the 20th minute. It's a funny old game! Bristol City 8th, Brighton & Hove Albion 17th.

Huddersfield Town have lead a group of clubs with an even PL6, W2, D2, L2 record. They blew a chance to keep in close contact with the leading pack, slipping up 2-0 at Gresty Road against Crewe Alexandra. Maynard bagged a brace in the 40th and 52nd minutes. Crewe Alexandra 12th, Huddersfield Town 10th.

For the second week running, AFC Bournemouth found, and played their get out of jail free card. Hayter had netted a first half brace with a lovely strike in the 29th minute, and a header in the 43rd. Oldham Athletic gratefully converted a penalty conceded 7 seconds after the restart by Liddell (47 mins) and then levelled in the 78th minute! Browning then scored his first goal in 3 years in the 92nd minute of time to secure a most unlikely win for the South Coast side! AFC Bournemouth 14th, Oldham Athletic 22nd.

Poor Rotherham United ........ handed a 10-point penalty before the season started, almost eliminated that deficit, but not hit the barriers! This time Northampton Town piled on the misery. Hibbert did get the home side off to a flyer in the 6th minute, but a McGleish brace in the 73rd and 81st minutes put pay to any dreams of reaching zero points for the home side! Rotherham United 24th, Northampton Town 16th.

After such a good end to last season, why are Gillingham struggling? Their Friday night encounter with fellow strugglers Scunthorpe United didn't help matters as they went down to a 0-2 defeat! Scunny took the lead through Hinds in the 39th minute, which was added to by Sparrow who netted in the 44th minute, leaving the Gills stranded! Gillingham 23rd, Scunthorpe United 18th.

Finally, Millwall (21st) and Blackpool (20th) could only manage a 0-0 draw at the New Den.
