You have to question the groundsman - Moore

Last updated : 31 December 2009 By Bigrich.....
Speaking in todays Advertiser, Moore looked back at the postponement and the lack of information about any pitch inspections and said; "My assistant Jimmy Mullen was already at the ground and he couldn't believe the referee. He's called it off because of an area about 10 yards by 20 yards long but Jimmy looked at it and said he could get his heel in it."

"I'm surprised at Scott Mathieson because he's an experienced referee-but you've also got to ask questions of the groundsman. The sheets should be pegged in. They shouldn't have been allowed to blow away." Moore added.

Meanwhile referee Mathieson said; The areas that were exposed were solid and with the experience I've had with previous pitch inspections over the years, I deemed it unplayable."

"At the time the temperatures were not lifting. It was still zero degrees so I felt there was no prospect of the pitch being ready for kick-off time." he added.

Moore's opposite number John Sheridan was however in agreement with the Millers boss; "The pitch was perfect for me and if I'd have been the referee we'd have been kicking off, It would have been a good game and a great atmosphere, so we're all disappointed."
