Alf's move was expect by 23 year old Evan's and he tell's the 'Tiser that the team were prepared for it and that it shouldn't stop them in their quest for promotion.

“Alfie was messaging me on the Friday. He was saying that something might happen and lo and behold we went in on Saturday and he wasn't around."

“I think we have to be prepared for life without him because everyone knew it had been on the cards for a week or two. We were in a position where we were thinking that, if he goes, it's just one of those things."

“We've just got to keep going. We've got the quality in the squad to stay up there.”

“Gillingham set themselves up well and the gaffer told us at half time to take the game to them more and we went out and did that."

"As for Alfie, he has scored 20 plus goals for the last two or three seasons and I think he deserves everything that comes his way. As a team you just have to carry on and find the goals elsewhere and there's no better way than scoring three in the next game. As the gaffer says, we have quality here. We've gone top and hopefully we'll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.” he added.
