With 7 summer signings in the bag, Steve Evans aims to complete his squad with the signing of a striker this week after missing out on Lyle Taylor recently.

“We know what we want and in the next seven to ten days you will see the squad taking shape. We are bang on track and ahead of last year when we signed 20 players. This time we are adding to an already talented group and we will have competition in every area." Evans said.

“We won't be running around just before the start trying to conduct major transfer business, we will be ready before that. It's like the old saying, if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. It is all about being ready for Crewe on August 3.”

Meanwhile he's pleased with the Millers showings in the pre-season games so far; “We have been excellent so far. The performances won't get us a league point but the opposition has been good, the quality of our football has been good and our fitness has been good."

“It will be another step-up this weekend because Huddersfield will be wanting to get serious about their preparations and we are the same and it will be a nice bonus having Mark (Robins) back. I think Middlesbrough will bring the strongest quality opposition and the Barnsley game is a local derby and that will take care of itself. There's plenty to look forward to.” he added
