We should be looking at promotion - Cresswell

Cresswell will lead out his hometown club for the first time in a league game tomorrow as the Millers kick off their npower League Two campaign at home to Lincoln.

Speaking to the Tiser today, the tall defender outlines pre-season and his thoughts on things to come.

"It's great to be back here and be a part of the set up at this club. As soon as I had the opportunity to join Rotherham my mind was made up.

"Ronnie didn't really have to sell the club to me, I know the club is well run and that there are big plans for the future. I think that with the current crop of players we should be targeting a place in at least the play-offs again, but I think we could get automatic promotion.

"We have made some quality signings. I played alongside Tom Newey last season at Bury and he's a really good player. He's fast and can attack as well as defend."

Cresswell continued: "I can't wait. I've been looking after myself over the summer and I feel that I'm ready now for the season to start. I definitely see my long-term future here after having a few loan spells before my time at Bury.

"I developed quite a bit in my two seasons under Alan Knill and now I want to develop even further and go up the leagues with this club.

"I usually set myself a target of five goals a season and try to kick on from there. I always look to attack the ball in both penalty areas and I feel that this is a real strength of mine."
