We needed to take our chances - Taylor

“We were excellent in the first half. We created the better chances but we needed to make them count. Bar defending set pieces and the penalty, we dominated large parts of it but in the second half, their quality has exposed our weaknesses. We were a bit lifeless and lacking a bit of energy in the second half.

“It’s if, buts and maybes. If we have any chance away from home, when we create, we have to score. No disrespect to this group of players, but the opposition is going to be more clinical, in certain moments, because of the quality they have in certain parts of pitch, and that showed in the second half.

“I was so proud of how we played in the first half. We were excellent in that period and that’s a platform for us to build on. In the second half, I don’t want to judge the lads too much. Playing on Wednesday night and going into an away game on Saturday was a big ask for them.

“I’d be more worried if we didn’t create those chances. We’ve probably created as many chances in that first half than we have all season and that’s what we have got to do as a team.

“The players work their socks all and give everything physically. They’ve engaged with us mentally this week. We moved the ball well at times today and it could have been so, so different, but I’m stood here after a three-nil loss, and that doesn’t feel great.”
