We couldnt do any more to get it on - Douglas

The game was called off after a 11:30am pitch inspection after the Millers groundsman Jim Davidson had been working on the pitch but with weather conditions worsening he realised there would be a problem.

"It was a blow because no one likes having their game called off, particularly at short notice, But there was nothing else that could be done. It simply wasn't playable." Paul Douglas told the star.

"Had the rain stopped at 12 then we could have got it on but it was still belting down and the forecast was for more between then and kick off and it was obvious that the parts that were waterlogged would only get worse. "

"The referee had no other choice and, under the circumstances, we arrived at the decision as early as possible." he added

"Of course, we're sorry for the Aldershot fans, and any of ours travelling from distance, who would have been well on their way, but it was ok when they would have been setting off. It simply worsened very quickly indeed."
