However he did warn that the council could not help in the current crisis with financial help.
"We can't think about the club going under, it's too serious. If a town has a football club it is a great asset and brings the town national recognition. We can't bale out the club financially, but we will do what we can. Something important will die in this town if we lose the club, but I don't believe we will lose it." he told the Star.
"If we have a community stadium it needs to be used seven days a week and we are working hard to achieve this." he added.
