“I think, first half, we were excellent,” said Warne. “The lads have done everything we’ve asked. We’ve worked a good set-piece.

“I thought we were really good. We frustrated them on the counter-attack and we were good. When we went in at half-time, nobody could complain that we were 1-0 up. I just asked the lads at half time for the same sort of thing. They were going to come out and have an intensity to their game – which there was."

“Every goal you concede is bad, but the first one was a great one. It’s a great finish in the end and it brought the game back. The game levelled out at one-all. I’m hugely disappointed at the second goal. I’m screaming at the side because I can see what’s going to happen. Unfortunately, my players didn’t."

“The second goal is a calamity and in the second half we didn’t make the ‘keeper make enough saves to come away with a point. In fairness, Marek’s saved a couple so it could have been a bigger score-line. But, for the majority of the game, I thought we more than competed with the best team in the league. In fairness, they’ve got some very good players throughout. It would have been good if we could have got our first away win of the season here.”

Warney went on to speak about injurys; "Newell got a crack on his ankle then got a bit of fluid in his calf, He thought he could run it off but it got worse.

“With any luck he Proctor should be all right for next week. No disrespect to Woody but you don’t want to have to be changing your centre-halves if you can help it."

“That was a blow and it limits us to what we can do. I would have liked to have brought some more legs into the middle of the pitch. At the time I thought the ball was coming back too much. I put Procs up and I thought he was pretty amazing when he went on – it’s a pity he didn’t get enough service to get a goal. The two subs did kill us but it’s not an excuse, it’s part of the game.”
