I’m obviously really pleased,’ said Warne. ‘The conditions were difficult and the wind was swirling but overall I thought our performance was really good.
‘We’ve had a couple of games where our performances haven’t been at the standard which we’ve set, so we had to show a reaction and the lads performed really well.
‘We limited Northampton to very few chances and then scored three very good goals ourselves, so it’s hugely pleasing.
‘Michael Smith was unplayable up front and I thought he was excellent and my captain Will Vaulks was also very good.
‘We brought 20 lads down with us and all 20 of them in the dressing room said afterwards how everyone will play a part. We’re doing it for the fans, so I’m really proud of the lads today.
‘On the back of two defeats people start whispering things, but our performance was excellent and it’s always nice to win.
‘In the second half especially, parts of our play were really good and then our subs did well. We’ll now enjoy this and start again on Monday.’
