Warne looks back on a frustrating afternoon

Speaking to the clubs official website after the game bos Paul Warne said; “It was frustrating, we work hard all week to get the lads to be the best they can be. We warned the lads about the first goal they got and how they play. As the first half wore on I thought we were more comfortable."

“In fairness, we should have been 3-1 up at half-time. We had unbelievable chances to score which we didn’t take."

“We started the second-half quite bright. We scored and then got one back. Unfortunately, they’re very good players. It was pass and move and they’ve cut us open and took the lead again.”

“We’ve thrown the kitchen sink and that’s the disappointing thing,” continued Warne. “I’ve said to the lads ‘stick to plan A’ but I’m not blaming the lads. We played a little bit off the cuff which left us open at the back.

“From a coach’s point of view, everything has to be stoppable. There’s no disputing thier second is an amazing goal. That’s why a lot of their players in this window look like they might go."

“We didn’t take our chances and they did. I expected Semi to hit the target from there. No one misses on purpose and I’m not criticising him but you have to take your chances at this level. For us to win football matches we have to take chances and it doesn’t come a lot easier than that. I think, although we didn’t start the game well we created enough chances. Robbo had a header at the far post and we could have come in at half-time at 3-1."

“We were playing quite well at 2-2. I honestly believed they would go on to win the game. We had to change a couple of players to give ourselves the best possible chance. We’re a little bit down on numbers but that’s no excuse. It’s just a hard pill to take because we definitely created enough chances to win the game.”
