Warne hoping to bring Towell back.

Towell was a prominant presence in last seasons promotion to the Championship, but admits that parent club Brighton hold the cards on any return to the Millers.

"Richie Towell is a possibility, I think the world of him,” the boss said. “I speak to him regularly, I spoke to his manager last week, we speak to Brighton on a regular basis."

“If we can agree the terms that is suitable to everyone then great, I have a lot of time for Richie. It’s awkward because every time I phone him he still calls me gaffer."

“It would be a loan if possible, with a view to signing him permanently.”

"I would love to get Richie back, he did a good job and I think he still has a lot to improve and if he can have a year in the Championship and do a really good job I don’t think he would be a million miles away from a call-up for the Republic of Ireland."

“That would be something I would like to do, but if I got everything I wanted then it would be a good world.

“Richie is one of a few midfield options we have got. I think we need to sign two in the middle, I always think that players who have been here before and you have worked with before and like are worth more than anyone else, because they get it, they know the environment."

“I would like to bring Richie back but in fairness to Brighton he is their player so it’s up to them."
