Warne disappointed with League cup defeat

A crowd of less than 4000 saw Arthur Gnahoua burst through the left channel and saw his angled drive squirm under the body of home goalkeeper Josh Vickers to fire League One strugglers Morecambe to a 1-0 win at the New York Stadium

Speaking after the game, the gaffer told themillers.co.uk “I’m disappointed with the defeat, it was a different game to what we’ve played all season. Every team in the Champ looks to go toe-to-toe with you and we can look to exploit the spaces, but they sat behind the ball and made it really difficult for us.

“We had a lot of the ball but just weren’t incisive enough in the final third and then we’re obviously disappointed with the goal we conceded, but on the whole there were some pleasing things for me.

“Tom Eaves got minutes under his belt, Cohen played and I thought Pelts was really good at the back for us, there were a lot of positives, we had no injuries.

“I made 10 changes tonight and perhaps didn’t look as fluid as we normally are. We didn’t work the keeper enough, but it wasn’t through a lack of effort, it just didn’t go for us on the night.

“I just think we didn’t move the ball quick enough, that was my real frustration. At our best, we shift it out wide quickly and attack the box. As I say, it will take time, relationships are forming on the pitch. We’re disappointed to lose a match quite obviously, but we’ll move on to the next.

"I'd have liked to have had a run in the competition and it wasn't through a lack of effort, I just didn't think we had enough guile."
