Warne backing Wardy to get goals again.

With only 2 goals in his last 14 games, its no coincidence that the rumours must have affected his game, but with the transfer window now closed, and the extension of his contract due in the next couple of weeks, Paul Warne is backing Danny Ward to get back amongst the goals.

“Now the transfer window has gone, I am hoping he starts banging the goals in, I’ve never doubted Danny Ward ever,” Warne told the Star.

“He hasn’t scored for a few games. I am not criticising his workrate. Is he 100 per cent as sharp as he was? Possibly not, and I can understand that.”

Meanwhile, Warne will exercise a clause in Ward's contract to extend it for another 12 months. The striker was out of contract in the summer, but will be contracted to the Millers until the summer of 2018.

“We will activate it before the end of the season, for sure, That won’t be a problem. I have spoken to Danny about that. He knows the situation."

“If he bags another 10 goals before the summer then he might potentially get better bids. I can’t have anyone criticising him. He is a brilliant lad.”
