Hitchens, then just a supporter of the club, helped raise around £20,000 when the club was last in trouble during the Save the Millers campaign and this time he sees the experience being just as enjoyable.
Speaking to the clubs official site last week, he said: "The Huddersfield walk was one of the proudest days of my life and it was a privilege to walk allongside so many passionate and dedicated supporters of Rotherham United."
So, what are the plans for Mansfield and what's the latest?
The walk will take place Saturday 26th April, the day of the game, with a planned 5am set off from Millmoor. Around 50 people have registered with their forms so far to participate.
The aim is to arrive at Field Mill around 12.30pm, the walk is approximately 24 miles long. Supporters are still reminded to make alternative arrangements to get home, although the idea is for all walkers to get the train back together after the match.
