Veteran stopper Warrington has been told he is surplus to the playing staff by boss Steve Evans, whilst Tonge and Denton, who spent time on loan in non-league with Stocksbridge Park Steels during the season, have also been shown the door.

Young midfielder Mitch Rose has been offered new terms along with the versatile Mark Bradley, and both will put pen to paper.

Earlier in the week left back Joe Skarz signed a two year deal for a nominal fee, whilst loanees Liam Ridehalgh and Daniel Kearns left the Millers following promotion to League One.

Youth team goalkeeper Tony Thompson and midfielder Nicky Walker have also been offered professional contract extensions with the club.

MillersMAD understands no decision has yet been made on the future of out of favour Danny Schofield, who has a year left on his contract.

Evans told themillers.co.uk: “Today is the first part of a process which will allow me to put in place a squad for next season that will target a place in the Championship come next May.

"In relation to Andy Warrington, this was as tough a decision as I have had to make in my managerial career. He has had an excellent season and is an outstanding professional."
