"Tongey has had permission now to start jogging so that is a good sign and maybe this time next week he might be ready to join in with the rest of the lads," boss Ronnie Moore told the clubs official website.

"If that is the case then come the start of the season his fitness levels should be just about right." he added.

Dale spoke about his frustration of missing the business end of the season, including the trip to Wembley; "I was absolutely gutted for the boys at what happened in the final but we have to be positive and go for automatic promotion this term." he told the star.

"I feel I have got a lot to prove to Ronnie, I don't think he has seen the best of me since he took charge and I'm hoping I can show him what I'm capable of this season."

"I want to show Ronnie that I am a good player and that I am worthy of a place in the side. My first aim is to get a good pre-season under my belt." he added.
