The lads can go home happy

“I thought we were excellent, first-half, I thought we had more of the ball than in any other Championship game, really. Obviously losing my captain in the warm-up is a problem. Having once centre-half and one centre-forward isn’t ideal. But we patched them up and sent them out fully motivated and fully confident that they could compete."

“I thought, first-half, our play deserved a goal. I thought, second-half, it was more of an open game. It was end-to-end. I think if you were a neutral you would have loved it. I don’t know if my heart-rate loved it!"

“It was a draw and it’s a pity because it wasn’t a dull game. It’s a shame it didn’t end like a two-two or something to give both sets of supporters. It’s a clean-sheet and a point which is going to be crucial to our season. I think the lads can go home happy with the day’s work they’ve given this great club.”

“Both teams had a right go, I know they got a disallowed goal in the first-half but that was their only attempt on goal. Another day, Willo  might have slipped in Tayls when he was clean through. When the ref blew right at the end, Wilesy was clean through so that’s disappointing."

“I went for a toilet stop and missed Willo’s one-on-one! I was desperate, though, they were desperate times! I think, over the course of the game, everyone will say a draw’s a fair result. Our ‘keeper’s not had a lot to do but, in fairness, neither has theirs. Both teams have given a lot for their managers and we’ve got to be pleased with that."

“We had to reshuffle and you could see with my bench we are down to the bare bones. We’ll just have to get through to Saturday and then let the lads have some deserved rest."

“I thought Vaulks and Semi were a different gravy. I love them like they’re my own sons. They’re great kids and want to win. I know Will will play anywhere for the team.”
