Did'nt happen
However the take-over failed to materialise, and that set the tone for the rest of the season.

After the takeover collapsed rumors were rife that Freeman did'nt have the money for the deal, approximately £5million was reportedly the amount agreed for the club. A lot of money for a loss making buisness that needed significant investment to bring it into the 20th century '

Booth gave a rare radio interview on Football Heaven, and gave the Millers fans a new buzz word - 'It's all about the MUNNY!' Booth was asked outright if he though that Neil Freeman didnt have the money to buy the club!, "Well that's what it seems like! He's been on at it
long enough ant he?" booth answered, he also had this message for Freeman to prove it if he does have the money as he claims. "If he does have the money then tell him to tek it to Natwest Bank and then come to Millmoor!!"

Fan's were up in arms with the failure of the takeover, with police even been called to the ground afte some fans had got aggressive while demanding their season ticket money back. Freeman offered to re-emburse peoples season ticket.

And so after all this, boss Ronnie Moore was
downbeat, telling the media that he would have to choose players from his B-list rather than his A-list.

However, Moore was given the funds to sign on-loan pair Robbie Stockdale and Phil Gilchrist from Middlesborough and West Brom respectively. Paulo Vanezza was also brought in from Watford.

But a massive bodyblow was dealt to Moore's plans with the news that striker Martin Butler had been struck down with hepatitis A, as well as a knee injury, and could. miss the whole of the season.

Also missing was Andy Monkhouse, who also had a knee injury, he went under the knife in an attempt to rectify the problem.

Knackered
In a bid to cure his attacking problem, Ronnie Moore brought in Paul Shaw from neighbours Sheffield United on loan.

Pre-season games were against Middlesborough (drew 2-2) and Huddersfield (lost 2-0) both played at Millmoor.

Next up - The season gets underway.
