Jake Hastie's second-half equaliser enabled Rotherham to come from behind to claim a 1-1 Sky Bet League One draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland made the perfect start, with Marc McNulty finding the net after just 31 seconds.

Alim Ozturk's quick free-kick released the Scotsman through the middle, and having scored in his side's weekend win at Accrington, he made it two goals in four days as he slotted past Daniel Iversen.

The hosts should have been two goals to the good midway through the first half, but while Clark Robertson scythed down Lynden Gooch to concede a penalty, Aiden McGeady's tame side-footed effort was easily saved.

Rotherham might have had a spot-kick of their own when Luke O'Nien appeared to handle in the area, and having steadied the ship after their dreadful start, the visitors should really have had an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, only for Matt Crooks to head over from six yards out.

They levelled with 24 minutes left, taking advantage of some hesitancy from Ozturk that enabled Freddie Ladapo to win possession.

He teed up Hastie in the box, and the Millers forward drilled a driven finish into the roof of the net.
