It was first thought that Talbot was set for a three-month absence with the injury picked up during the recent victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
However, he has responded to treatment much quicker than anticipated and resumed training on Monday.
The Millers' official website says that Talbot could even come into contention for the tough away game at in-form Nottingham Forest this coming weekend.
But, striker Alan Lee is doubtful for next Saturdays game at The City Ground after twinging a hamstring in the victory at Walsall last week and aggravating the problem after scoring the winner against Brighton last Saturday.
