The 34 year-old defender is training with the Millers after leaving Doncaster and Scott says the experience of the former Ipswich and Leeds man would be crucial.
"We are hoping to get something done", said Scott to the clubs website.
"He is an impressive lad and a leader. He is coming towards the back end of his career but he is a fit lad and he understands his body. Personnel training will have to be modified for him, but he wants to win he knows how to win, he talks well and he is a big influence in the dressing room.
"If there is a deal we can do sooner rather than later then I would like to do that."
