Scott slates Wednesday

Wednesday have seen 3 bids rejected and regarded as laughable by chairman Tony Stewart, now the gaffer puts the boot in in a frank interview.

"In this area there are so many clubs and theres not a lot going on. Donny are'nt doing too much, Barnsley aren't doing too much, neither are Sheffield United. Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham seem to be the ones bouncing back and forth and everybodies talking about them and making silly rumours up because they have nothing else to talk about."

"Sheffield Wednesday have made several bids for Adam Le Fondre, the fact of the matter is, they understand where we stand with it and if theyre going to make a bid, they're going to have to make a proper bid. Rather than paying peanuts, you pay proper money for a proper player who scores proper goals."

"They know the situation, they've come back three or four times, Adam's fully aware of the situation, Sheffield Wednesday are fully aware of the situation but they keep coming back changing thier offer slightly but to no significance."

"Everybody says they've got the ambition to go and get to the Championship and pay the money, well pay it! They're upsetting my player by keeping making these offers without any seriousness behind it. If they're going to make the offer, make the offer, pay the money that he's worth and what we want for him and everybodys happy, but don't keep coming back and offering peanuts for someone who's worth a lot more than that."

"I think it's unfair for our supporters, it's unfair for Wednesday supporters who think they are making bids and it's realistic, it's not. They've got to put up or shut up and I've said that before and don't keep coming back talking to us unless your serious."

"Alf's been absolutely first class, he's been keep up to date with everything thats been going on, I spoke to him yesterday and he's got no problem at all with whats going on and how we're handling the situation. He's a great lad and being professional throughout my time here, he's been fantastic for me."

"The speculation does dilute things and it kind of takes things away that we've started so well. We've got a good squad here, we've built a squad and we've got players here, and good players who are capable of doing good things in a higher league but its all about Adam Le Fondre. He doesn't want that, I don't want that but we've got to deal with that unless somebody comes up with the right money for a player who's scored 56 goals in something like 102 games, then he's going to be staying here."

"The situation is tricky becuase we have the transfer window shutting very quickly, ultimately these sort of things usually happen in the last hours than the last days so I've got to cover every eventuality, if he stays I'm delighted, I'd love him to stay. If he goes then it means I've got to money to spend but I've got to spend it wisely and on the right players and given the protocol in league 2 we've got to be sensible with it and it fits in with our wage structure. But we've got to replace somebody whos scored that many goals and thats difficult."

"Theres a lot of permutations that could go on between now and the window shutting but it's no different from any other window. I hate them, it's a joke, in league 2 it's an absolutely rediculous situation where some players are on month to month contracts and others on 3 years and we're being told that we can't sign someone on a permanant deal or sell anyone. Sometime's clubs at this level need to sell players to stay in exsistance and theres a lot of clubs being in trouble financially its difficult for clubs in this level to function and to continue and these windows make it very difficult to survive and then you end up getting players that go before you want them to or for less money but thats certainly not going to be the case here, we know what we want for him and if we get that then he will go with our blessing."

"Hopefully ALF will go on and do very very well at a higher level and prove to us what a good player he is and show everyone that he can score goals at a higher level, but until that happens he's with us."

"We've been strong, we've got our valuation of ALF, we've always had that, that has not changed, we have not moved the goalposts and I think that's something that ALF can appreciate. Whenever I've spoke to him, we've sat down and said this is the situation, and he understands that we're not mucking him about, everybody else knows we're not mucking him about. That's our valuation, thats what we want for him and if we don't get it then the chairmans quite happy for him to stay here, score 20 goals this season and go on a free transfer somewhere else and we'll shake his hand."

"Obviously he wants to play at a higher level and the sooner the better and we understand that. The sooner the money comes in the sooner he'll be doing that."

"He hasnt handed in a transfer request and it's a load of rubbish, he hasnt done that, he's never indicated he wants to do that, he's always said to me in previous conversations that he wants to play at a higher level and no-one can blame him. I'd be dissappointed if any player with speculation from Championship and good League One clubs if they didnt come to me and say they want there then I'd be thinking theres something wrong with them."

"But theres been no transfer request, all the rumours and speculation and people that want to make a story thats not there. We've been getting on with our jobs, Alfie's been working hard, he's been training as well as he has been throughout the whole pre-season and season so far and nothings going to change that. He's a professional and he's been getting on with his job and we've been getting on with ours by trying to win a game on Saturday."
