We understand that Chairman Denis Coleman has given permission for Robins to hold down talks with upto four targets from the top two divisions in the next 48 hours, as he hunts for a replacement for the injured Mark Hudson.

The damage to Hudson's knee will be revealed fully on Thursday, while the boss continues his player search.

He told today's Rotherham Star: "We have spoken with clubs and they have given us permission to go ahead and speak with their particular player, so we may have someone in."
