Prove your worth - Scott

Scott's men missed out on the play-offs after Mondays defeat to Gillingham barring a methematical miracle, and as he looks for his first win in charge he tells his players to show some pride as they face Aldershot tomorrow.

He said to the Tiser: "I'm looking for commitment, enthusiasm and an improvement in the remaining two games. I've seen good signs in the three matches so far but also things we need to work on. I don't want the season to fade away. I want the last two matches to be an indication of just how much people want to be here. Everyone is under scrutiny, simple as that.

"I like winning football matches and we have to get that winning mentality back. "I've got general ideas (who I'm going to keep) but there's still all to play for. Some haven't had a chance and there's some I've seen that could maybe change my mind.

"The last two games and every day in training is an opportunity to show they have the right application to be worth a place here next season. I'm still assessing the squad and it's a good opportunity for me to see how they deal with different situations, playing away from home and how they deal with not getting in the play-offs. I'm looking at the whole picture now without the intensity of desperately trying to get in the play-offs."

Two out-of-contract players Scott has made no secret of his desire to keep are striker Ryan Taylor and midfield playmaker Nicky Law. "I have spoken to Ryan's agent again and we have a meeting lined up," said Scott. "I've also spoken to Nicky's agent as well and they're both open to negotiation. It's promising but until something is signed then it's up in the air.

"We will do our best to make sure they sign within the financial budget and the wage structure that we have got. Not winning promotion doesn't help. We are going to have to convince them but I would like to think that with the ambition of myself and the football club, they'll want to stay."
