Millers boss Mick Harford has today confirmed to Radio Sheffield that Wigan Athletic have been in talks with the Millers about Mike Pollitt over the last few days.

Pollitt 33 still has a year to run on his Millmoor contract, he has played over 230 games for the Millers over 2 spells, and hes consistantly shown that he is a great keeper, however boss Mick Harford is looking to cash in on the player as he looks to raise some cash for other transfers and lower the wage bill.

A statement from Latics boss Paul Jewel on the Wigan official website says "He is a player I'm interested in signing and we have made an approach. However, at the time we are still at the discussion stage."

According to Radio Sheffield the fee is around the £200k mark that the Millers turned down from Nottingham Forest last season.

Pollitt is away on Holiday until tomorrow and the deal could be done by the end of the week.

The Rotherham Star also reports that Ipswich were intrested in the stopper after selling Kelvin Davies to Sunderland, but this has been denied by the Millers.

Should the Wigan deal be completed he will be Wigans first signing of the summer.
