Pollitt deal done!!

"I've been in discussions with Wigan for a while now and there's never been any doubt in my mind that this was a challenge I was going to accept. Obviously leaving Rotherham is wrench, particularly as I've had so many good times there and the people have been so good to me. However, at this stage in my career I couldn't turn down the opportunity to join a club like Wigan Athletic, especially now they're in the top flight.

"In John Filan they already have a top class keeper and for me he's one of the best around. I know I'll have to fight for my place in the first team but I'm prepared to be patient and will look forward to working closely with Filan and Gary Walsh to make sure the team does well this year."

Pollitt made 260 appearances for the Millers over 2 spells, and has been consistant for the Millers in whatever division we've played in. Former boss Ronnie Moore always qouted him as 'the best keeper outside the premiership'.


Details of the deal are yet unconfirmed but it was rumoured that the Millers will recieve in the region of £150-200k for Pollitt, with much going to the new stand project and some to Mick Harford, Pollitt's high wage bill will also be freed up for Mick to bring in more players.
