Sweeping the decks
After the news yesterday that contracts were not being offered to Paul Warne, Rob Scott and Darren Garner. Mick Harford speaks of his bid 'to freshen the place up'.

The majority of the players still under contract at Millmoor have been told they can go if they can find clubs during the summer, although Harford will be looking for some transfer fee's for some of them.

Harford is looking to raise funds for new players, and although every player bar one has a 20% reduction in wages because of relegation it will still leave the Millers with a fairly hefty wage bill.

Mike Pollitt is a certainty to leave, with Forest offering over £250k in Febuary more bids will no doubt come in for him during the summer. With Gary Montegomery being offered a contract we have a good keeper in back up.

Other players that could go are Martin McIntosh, who has been sniffed arouund by former boss Ronnie Moore, Martin Butler has been linked with a move to Hull and QPR over the last week. All three of the above would be worth a fee I feel.

Harford told tonights Rotherham Star "I've been totally honest with all the players and they all understand and have been very responsive. I want to refresh the place, bring in some new faces. I need to generate funds to freshen up the squad."

"We have been relegated and the revenue will drop accordingly. That has to be taken into account. Most of the players have a year left and I've said that if they can get a bit more security somewhere else, then go for it."
