Players coming?

The Millers lost again on Saturday in a local derby against Sheffield United, their third consecutive defeat, leaving them firmly stranded at the foot of the Championship.

Manager Alan Knill told clubcall that he was satisfied that his side were improving despite that defeat:"We competed and got tackles in...we played ok and I thought we took it on from Tuesday's defeat at Sunderland so that was positive."

Knill also told clubcall that he wanted to take his time to assess the squad before moving into the transfer market, but plans to try and complete a loan deal by Wednesday of this week.

Number one target is believed to be a young Blackburn midfielder though at least one other club is also interested in the player. It's thought that the Millers are also preparing a back-up bid up for another english based player. However a deal for Southampton star Matt Oakley looks unlikely at the moment.

Despite assurances that there is plenty of money available for recruitment there was also a hint from Knill that the budget at Millmoor is still tight: "People say you need to get players in...it's kind of difficult to get players in without getting players out."

David Fox
The Millers have managed to bring in a trainee from Manchester United on trial. 21 year old David Fox has represented Endland at under 21 level and will be training with the club over the next few days. Alan Knill told the clubs official website "We have got him here for a few days so that we can take a look at each other. He is the type of player we have to be assessing when you consider the age of many of our current players.

"David is also intending to spend a few days with a Dutch club so we are hoping that he will want to stay with us if we feel he is what we are looking for after his trial."

Meanwhile promotion chasing Preston North End are reportedly lining up a bid for Millers keeper Mike Pollitt. Pollitt has already been the subject of two bids from Nottingham Forest this season but has told clubcall he is happy to stay at Millmoor.
