Plans excite Scott but focus is on the pitch

Scott launched into his new job this week with the goal of leading the club into the playoffs and eventually back to the Championship.

And the manager spoke of his intentions to build for the future within the club from top to bottom over the next three years.

Speaking to the Tiser, Scotty explains: "There are 15 points to play for and if we get them then we finish in the play-offs. Historically, an average of 72 points puts you in the play-offs. That's four more wins for us, so we can still do it, but we have to start tomorrow.

"There's no time for standing back and letting things happen. I've got to try and make an impact and get a first win under our belts and then go from there. If we get our first win and get some momentum and confidence for a second win, then we'll go into a really tough game against Gillingham on Easter Monday, knowing that if we beat them there's a chance we could go above them.

"That's the carrot we have got and I can't look any further ahead because if we lose that then we're right out of it."

He added: "The vision is to take this club and maximise the opportunities and the facilities. It's not so long ago it was in the Championship and there's no reason why it can't be again. The way it is structured it is all set up to be up there.

"The club is in an enviable position with finances and the new stadium is something to be excited about but we have to get results on the pitch.

"There were several reasonably appealing jobs around but once this job came up my main focus was to speak to the chairman and let him know I was interested."
