The former Liverpool winger has had a decent start to the season so far, he told the official website: "From a personal point of view things are going well as I have just missed one game with a slight injury. It's tough coming into a side with so many newcomers, there are a lot of us in the same boat but we have gelled quite well so far.

"I have scored one goal so far and that came from the only headed goal of my career, it should have been two as well. I have switched from the right and left, I am quite happy on either side so long as I am playing."

Speaking about the opening month for the Millers, where they had the chance to wipe out the complete points deduction, he said; "As far as I am concerned I feel things are going quite decent although we had a bad result against Northampton last Friday when I feel we should have had something out of the game.

"Most of the new lads have been regular starters but we started with a couple of disappointing results although we could well have got something from the game at Huddersfield."

"We then had a good run until the Northampton game and we also have a decent Carling Cup game to look forward to against Norwich City.

"Now we face a pretty hectic schedule just now and we haven't got a very big squad so it will be a stern test. Hopefully we can be off that minus figure, the sooner we can get into the plus marks the better."
