Left-back Wiggins came through the academy at Crystal Palace, playing regularly for their reserve side, whilst also turning out for the Wales U-21 team. He was sidelined for the rest of that season, and several recurrences of that injury kept him out of the following season as well. However Neil Warnock decided to offer him a new contract, seen by many as his final chance at Palace. Wiggins one appearance for Palace was not added to, and he ended the season on loan at Bournemouth. In 2009 he moved to Norwich. In January Bournemouth received dispensation from the Football League to sign Wiggins, because of an injury crisis.
