Last season's MillersMAD player of the season has had a good start to the season and talks to todays Advertiser looking at his last few weeks.

“I felt like I had a solid pre-season and to get in the team for the main action starting is just great. I felt like I played all right against Crewe and then again on Tuesday. You’ve always got to work hard to stay in this team. There’s competition for places all over the pitch.”

Looking at the Capital 1 cup game; “I thought the defence was different class. Wednesday brought Gary Madine on quite early who is a top player and they still couldn’t get past Craig Morgan and Kari Arnason."

“It was good for the fans to get the bragging rights, they’ll be in the workplace with their Sheffield Wednesday mates so it’s great. The gaffer said that if we work hard and keep our shape then we’ll get the goals. The strikes from Ben Pringle and Lee Frecklington were both really good, they’re the only ones scoring for us at the minute!"

“We’re going in the right direction. I thought we were the better side against Crewe last Saturday. Some will say we were lucky to get a point but we played well and the goals we conceded were sloppy.”

Meanwhile he is looking for another win against Preston North End as League 1 football graces the New York Stadium for the first time.

“It’s always good to keep the games coming and keep the confidence up. Preston look a decent side but we want to get our first league win of the season. The crowd should be big again and hopefully it’s another good atmosphere because you always want to experience more games like that.” he added
