Nothing to fear tomorrow - Fenton

Notts County as a club have seen massive changes this season but it's not the first time the club have been through the mill.

Nick Fenton at his time at Notts County saw five managers come and go, he looks forward to the match with one of his former clubs, speaking to the Advertiser Nick said:

"We had the Albert Scardino takeover during my time at Count. A lot of money was pumped in and it went pearshaped after that, so I've been there when things were supposed to happen but didn't.

"It was a troubled time. My first manager was Sam Allardyce, then Gary Brazil (twice), Jocky Scott, Billy Dearden and Gary Mills. There was a lot of changes. It's a good club and one I still have a lot of time for. I still keep an eye out for their results but with Sven going there and the Sol Campbell saga and the money they've spent, they're the team everyone is looking to beat now."

Fenton added: "They've a lot of money and I think they're a club that's going forward. "Their ground is 20 years old now but it's a lovely stadium, especially at this level. They're also getting a new training ground, which is one thing they never had and was one of the poorest things about the club.

"Ultimately though, we're a League Two side and they're a League Two side. We're above them in the league, which proves we're as good if not better.

"We're not fearful of them. We want to win the league and if we want to do that then we've got to beat teams like Notts County."

Fenton has shaken off the dead leg that forced him off against Hereford six days ago and is keen to get out and make amends for the two dropped points. "The first half was as onesided as I've ever played in," he said.

"It should have been 6-0, 7- 0 or 8-0. We missed chance after chance and they got a bit lucky. "All we had to do was start the second half at the same tempo but we didn't and they got back in it. In all honesty it wasn't a great goal to conceded at the end either."

Clean sheets are a rarity for the Millers this season, Fenton has his own ideas as to why that might be: "Continuity has a part to play. We've had a few injuries this year. Ian Sharps has had an injury and I had one before that so we haven't played together a lot of the time compared to last season.

"Hopefully we can get back in a rhythm where there's no injuries and a settled back four and start getting some clean sheets. As defenders, we feel just as confident and remember against Hereford there was no trouble until we caused our own problems at the end.

"If we get clean sheets then we know we'll win games with players like Adam Le Fondre with us now. He's got ten goals already, which is just phenomenal, and I'm surprised he didn't get two or three more goals on Saturday because he's usually there to finish the chances.

"There's no need to be down. We're still up there, just a point off the top, and there's a big match to look forward to."
