No Rush on Evans contract deal - Tony

With Evans already turning down an extension offer from the chairman back in January when the Millers were struggling for form, Tony Stewart says that the issue isnt a priority right now.

“Steve has two years left on his contract and he is happy with that. Halfway through last season I asked him whether he wanted an extension and he said 'I want to be here for ten years,' and we both laughed at that, so we are quite relaxed on these issues."

“All I know is, whether it is extending his contract or whatever, that will come naturally. We are in regular contact and the communication with him is the best I have ever had with a manager. We talk for one or two hours a day and that's good because I know what he is thinking and what he is trying to do. He has got thrust and drive and he has delivered the goods in his first season.”

Evans has already identified his requirements for next seasons assault on League One, and Stewart said “You are in it to win it,”

“But realistically, we will get into League One and after ten games we'll see where we're sitting. We feel confident, we're going in as a winning side and that will hopefully give us a swing."

“We played Notts County and Stevenage in the cup when they were in the top ten in League One and beat them easily. In fact, Notts said we were the best side they'd played. We'll go for promotion. The drive and determination won't relax.” he added
