Talking to the clubs official website - themillers.co.uk the gaffer said; "We know what a good player he is and it was tough with him being injured then coming back and finding his feet. Since he's been back, been match-fit and used to the games he's been outstanding. Whoever he plays with, he affects them, he's good in the air, he organises well and he's the sort of player we want to build the club around."

Scott went on to say that the New York Stadium was an obvious attraction to keeping the 26 year old with the Millers; "This is the first one where we can say that the new stadium has attracted someone, because there would have been interest in him, and it would have affected him. Now we hope that the lure of the new stadium will attract top quality players."

"He's out of contract in the Summer, he's over 24 which means he could have gone on a free so we had to have it tied up before the Summer. Everyone I'd spoken to about central defenders puts him in the top two in the league, but I put him even higher than that. I think he can play higher which is why it was important to get him tied down." he added.
