New Stand - Contract about to be signed.

The new 4200 seater stand was originally expected to cost £3.3million by the architect, but when the tenders came in last week most were nearly £2million more expensive.

Millers finance direct John Harrison told the clubs website, themillers.co.uk that the cheapest was £4.6m and after talks with the constructor, they have managed to trim the cost to £4m after looking at the fixtures and fittings.

Harrison said, "The fourth tender came in at £4.6m and I realised there was something we could do about it as some money could be saved on certain designs and fittings so we weren't as far as apart and meetings have taken place with the builder with a view to cutting back some of the costs but not to the detriment of the facilities."

"So we have been able to get the price near to what we are prepared to accept but it is still more than we were expecting to pay as it will finish at about £4,000,050 with all the fittings and fees taken into account."

It is hoped that the signing with the contractor will be done in June, Work is expected to start the same month, with the stand completed by January 2006.

At present the club are £150k off the target and are urging fans to donate in one final push to get the stand a reality. The previous fundraising packages are still available with 15% off season tickets for life with the platinum package.

All donors from the Bronze level and above will also be added to a prize draw to win holidays, shirts and signed balls. More info can be gained from the RUST website - www.RUFCtrust.co.uk
