New Owners for Millers

Last updated : 11 October 2004 By Bigrich.....
The club this afternoon confirmed that Earth Mortgages owners Mike Worthington and Darren Millington have done a deal with Ken Booth to buy his majority shareholding.

Lawyers are now finishing the due diligence which is expected to be completed by November 1st by when Worthington and Millington will take charge of the club.

Full details of the deal have yet to be published, but on Radio Sheffield Football Heaven a caller rang up saying they have only paid Booth a pound for the club and took on the current debt!!. One of the new owners elect were to speak on Football Heaven but didnt actually come on.

Earth Finance have been club sponsors for the last season and they also pump a lot of money into Doncaster Rovers, people have been unsure wether this will be allowed to continue if they took over the Millers, and it looks like it can.

Mike Worthington
In an interview on the Official site Mike Worthington said that they are looking at developing Millmoor and have already made links with the council. The duo will also have talks with boss Ronnie Moore about a new contract with the club.

Present chairman Ken Booth will be kept on at the club in some role, wether or not any of the other directors will be is yet unknown. Nobody else is involved in the deal, so it looks like Neil Freemans new bid is a week too late.

It's looking like good news for the Millers for a change, although we've been here before as we all know!!

There is a press conference at Millmoor Tuesday morning at 9:30am which the deal will be officially announced and hopefully some of the many questions will be answered.

Will it actually happen? How will Boothy be remembered? and if your a stay-away fan, will you come back if it happens? Talk about it now on the MillersMad Messageboard!
