My job is to coach - Thornber

Thornber steps into the breach with senior player Paul Warne and chief scout Alan Crawford whilst the search for a new man continues.

He told todays Tiser: "It's not as though I'm new to this game. I've been coaching 12 years.

"I don't want to go into management— I see myself more as a developer of young players—but when you do your coaching badges I suppose this is what you do it for. I'm like a young John Breckin now because I've done every job at the club.

"It's been quieter not having Mark Robins and the others around—they were able to split training. We've had to look at things and act accordingly but the players have responded well, just as I expected.."

Ahead of tomorrow's game, talking to the clubs official website, Steve added: "Alan brings with him plenty of experience and it is good to have another body around the place,He has said if I need any advice then don't be afraid to ask him. He has done some work with the 'keepers but he will also
continue watching games as a scout.

"Warney has been a great help because he is the senior player and he is a bubbly character. He is a great lad to have around the place and he is brilliant with the lads, so it is really good to be working with them.

"Morecambe are a good side. Any side that can go 3-0 up against Rochdale can cause you problems on the other hand any side that can lose three goals will have their weaknesses as well."
