My face didn't fit - Cummins.

Last updated : 14 June 2010 By Duke

Cummins who has joined Grimsby Town on a one year deal spoke to The Star, saying that when Ronnie Moore took over the reins after the departure of Mark Robins his face did not fit.

Cummins said:

"I declined other clubs' approaches because I'd made my mind up after seeing the place, the training ground and meeting the manager.

"From the outset I had a good feeling about Grimsby.

"The gaffer here wants to play football and it's what I want to do as well.

"It's a fresh start and a new challenge for me. I had disappointment last year in the play-offs with Rotherham but that's in the past now.

"I'm looking to the future and settling quickly here in Grimsby. When Ronnie Moore came in after Mark Robins' departure, I was out of favour at Rotherham. My face didn't really fit in the squad so I knew what was coming.

"I put a few feelers out and spoke to Tommy Wright who was here at the time.

"He mentioned me to the gaffer and we kept in touch. It all went quickly after that. I didn't play a lot towards the end of last season so can't wait to get going here."
