"What nearly happened at Tranmere has happened here and I'm more than delighted to be working with him again," he said after linking up with Moore at the Millers helm.

"Ronnie and I go back a long time and we've stayed in contact throughout the years. He's very passionate about his football and his record last time here was first class. To do what he did in taking the club from the bottom division to Championship was tremendous.

"He wants to win and he was the same as a player, whether that be in a match or at five-a-side. That's similar to myself so we're two of a kind in a way. We're both very driven people."

Formr Miller Mullen, 57 next month, concluded: "It's many years since I was here as captain and a very proud one at that to win the Championship, can you believe 29 years ago?

"I've gone on record many times to say it was one of my happiest years ever in football. We had a fantastic team and a fantastic team spirit and to be involved with the club again is a dream for me."
