Thornber will now return to his role as youth team head coach and Jimmy Mullen will join Ronnie as his assistant.
Ex-Burnley boss Mullen was set to link up with Moore at Tranmere last season only a week before his sacking from the Wirral club.
Moore also hopes to appoint a new goalkeeping coach next week.
Paul Warne will take up the duties of departed fitness coach Nick Daws aswell as playing a part in the first team squad on matchdays.
Moore's firat game in his second spell at the helm is at Northampton on Tuesday night, who are still managerless and have just one league win this season.
