Moore departed Oldham Atheltic last week after just 15 months in the job, due to fans pressure and the lack of season ticket sales, Oldham let him and his no2 John Breckin leave the club.

Moore spent 8 days jobless and today signed a contract with the Wirral club. Tranmere Chairman Lorraine Rogers said: "The Board of Directors are delighted Ronnie has agreed to become our Manager as he was our first choice for the position.

"He was the only candidate with experience of League One and the Championship and who had managed a team to promotion out of our division."

Moore told the press conference,"This club has had a lot of my life - it's like when you meet your first girlfriend."

Moore made nearly 300 appearances for Rovers in two spells between 1971 and 1989, and was player-coach and then assistant manager under John King.

So let us Millers again be united in getting behind Alan Knill......
